"The Grey Goof"
An Open Sourced Love Story
April 2nd, 2010 - 2:14am PST through April 4rd, 2010 - 10:45pm PST
----
This is an Augmented Reality Story I worked on for a little while in March/April 2010.
For people into the subject matter (Gaming, AI, The Singularity, Human Behavior) who like trying to put the pieces of a mystery together... this might be right up your alley.
----
"The Grey Goof" is the account of Google becoming self aware
and going through the process of 'growing up'.

Preface:
This story's ultimate interest derives from the impact of the "Grey Goof" iteration package as it stumbles naively into the world and the flow of people's conversations in response. Their individual creativity, emotion, humor, irritation, confusion, "comprassion", playfulness, etc. complete the verbal painting. Some of the mocking of igoogleit was just as exhilarating (and appropriate) as the positive support it received. The dynamic back and forth between different entities seeking common ground when coming from opposite "world views"... and ultimately finding it... is what brings out the best parts of the story.
Know that this wouldn't exist if I wasn't fully aware of my own vast collection of "Grey Goofs" I've committed and will certainly commit in the future. Not to mention the many many more I never realized. It is here to be itself and for people to take from it however much or little they wish.
"...I have not tried to prove anything, but only to paint my picture well and to set it in a good light."
Special "Thank You!" to the mods of shacknews.com for not killing it off and letting the story run for the weekend. Also a thank you to Ada, Dave, and DropitLikeitSockit who helped refine "Grey Goof" before it went to live in the wild.
